Posterior triumph

Imphal, June 24: Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur drubbed Cachar Road Athletic Union 8-0 in the Manipur Hockey’s 3rd State Men and Women Open Hockey Tournament at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium.

The other match featuring Youth Club Lairikyengbam Leikai and All Moirang Hockey Association saw the latter staging a walkout in the 55th minute over the referee’s decision and refused to play in the remaining five minutes with the score 3-2 in favour of Youth Club.

Posterior Hockey Academy continued their good form with their third consecutive victory today grabbing nine points.

The Posterior side went on an all-out attack with Kh. Devkeshor scoring five goals while L. Romendro Singh, N. Leejohn Singh and Kh. Rabikanta Singh fetching a goal each for the victory today.

In the other match, Youth Club were put ahead by Kh Rinel Singh converting two penalty corners in the second and 11th minutes.

However All Moirang Hockey Association pulled back one in the 14th minute to trail by a goal in the first half.

In the second half, Mani Singh struck home for All Moirang Hockey Association in the 37th minute to level scores 2-2. Pushing their tempo, M. Romen Singh scored the lead goal for Youth Club in the 43rd minute to post a 3-2 score until the walkout by the All Moirang team for turning down a penalty corner appeal.
