|The Telegraph Cup Football 2011 for
Corporates at CC&FC
What: Imperial Blue presents The Telegraph Cup Football 2012, in association with Canon.
When: May 5 to 26.
What to expect: An adrenaline rush — with the men in action on the field and the office gang cheering them on from the sidelines. Formerly known as the Merchant Cup, the annual soccer frenzy offers corporate executives across the city a much-deserved break from the boardroom to indulge in some fun footwork.
This year, 64 corporate organisations will sweat it out for The Telegraph Cup. The five-a-side floodlit tournament is “strictly meant” for amateur footballers and the teams will be divided into 16 groups for the league matches. The first two teams in each group will qualify for the Main Plate; the third in each group qualifies for the Loser’s Plate and the fourth for the Bowl.
On the sidelines: There’s going to be plenty of entertainment in store for spectators. Every weekend will see musical performances; food stalls will be set up too.
Club speak: “This Cup has a history that goes back to the 1970s and is an extremely important event for the club. We are a sporting club and such events mean a lot to us,” said Deepankar Nandi, CEO, CC&FC.
What: Mango Festival.
Where: Khandani Rajdhani, Level 4, Mani Square Mall.
When: Till May 31.
On the menu: Beat the heat with mango dishes in the Rajasthani thali. Begin with mango starters like Keri Khanda Samosa (samosa stuffed with raw mango and grated onions). In the main course, enjoy Aam Ki Lungi, a tangy raw mango dish. Those with a sweet tooth can try Mango Rasmalai, and to beat the heat, a sip of Keri Panna will do you good.
Pocket pinch: Rs 265 per thali on weekdays, Rs 300 on weekends and holidays.
