Youth dies, whiff of foul play

Rahul Kumar, a 22-year-old resident of the Mithapur area, was on Sunday morning found hanging from a ceiling of an apartment on SP Verma Road.

Officers at Gandhi Maidan police station said Rahul’s body was found from one of the rooms in flat number 205 of Om Vihar Apartment. His family members suspect Rahul was murdered.

The flat where the body was found belonged to one of Rahul’s in-laws, who had called him on Saturday night. He stayed back in the house for the night.

The in-law — an uncle of Rahul’s wife Archana Tiwari — called the police once he found the body, but declined to comment anything. Sources said Rahul and Archana, who was separated from her first husband, tied the knot around three months ago against the wishes of her family.

Rahul’s family members have demanded a probe. Mikki Kumari, Rahul’s sister, said: “This is not a case of suicide but murder. There were injury marks on the body.”

The body has been sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. The police have also taken Archana in custody for interrogation.

Patna senior superintendent of police Amrit Raj said: “The Gandhi Maidan police station has lodged a case and we have started investigation.”
