Nagaon bag 3 points

- Silchar trail in first innings, tally one from drawn match

Guwahati, April 24: Nagaon tallied three points by virtue of a first innings lead against Silchar in their drawn two-day match of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy senior inter-district cricket tournament elite group super league at Nehru Stadium here today.

Resuming their first innings at overnight 172 for four, Nagaon were today all out for 241 in 74.3 overs.

Silchar, who elected to bat first and were bundled out for 130 on the first day yesterday, were 208 for six in 57 overs in the second innings at the end of the match.

Bhaskarjyoti Konwar, who was not out on 46 yesterday, topscored for Nagaon with a patient knock of 65, hitting five boundaries.

Ashok Kumar Shini (48, 4x7), Amit Sinha (36, 4x4) and Sadeq Imran Choudhary (26, 4x1, 6x1) were the other notable scorers for Nagaon.

Slow left arm spinner Prakash Bhagat was the Silchar demolition man with a haul of six for 72 bowling 28 overs while Raju Das picked up two for 38.

In their second innings, Raju Das remained not out topscoring for Silchar with 63 (4x9) with Pritam Das on 42 (4x4, 6x1) at the other end. Birendra Singh (27, 4x3) was another notable scorer for the side.

Offie Yasinul Haque of Nagaon accounted for four scalps conceding 32 runs and Amit Sinha chipped in with two for 42.

Yesterday, Silchar opted to bat but were bowled out in 38.2 overs. After a top and middle order collapse, wicketkeeper-batsman Rajdeep Das stabilised the innings scoring 32 and tailender Monoj Kashyap played a little cameo with 28 to salvage some respect at the end.

Left-arm spinner Bichitra Baruah was the wrecker-in-chief for Nagaon with a notch of four for 50 while medium pacer Dhiraj Goswami did some early damage with two for 18. Yasinul Haque accounted for two for 14.

Silchar bagged only one point from the match.

There is no match tomorrow. Nagaon will meet Dibrugarh in another two-day match from Friday.
