Order to sack cops

Muzaffarpur, March 11: Tirhut range deputy inspector-general (DIG) of police Bacchu Singh Meena has recommended dismissal of three police officers, including a station house officer (SHO), for allegedly indulging in corruption and not returning to duty after training.

While Bochahan police station SHO R.P. Gupta and assistant sub-inspector Ramesh Kumar Singh were named in corruption cases, promoted literate cop Sitaram Mishra went for a month’s training programme in 2008 but did not return to his Sitamarhi unit.

Vigilance sleuths caught Gupta while accepting Rs 30,000 as bribe in 2007. Ramesh was caught while taking Rs 10,000 as bribe in 2008.

The DIG also served showcause notices to two police officers — Priya Ranjan Mehta in Vaishali and Prem Shankar Singh in Sitamarhi — in corruption cases.
