ARC lift trophy

Shillong, Feb. 24: The Assam Regimental Centre defeated 58 Gorkha Training Centre by 2-1 goals today in the 101 Area Football Championship 2011-12.

The championship was held at Assam Regimental Centre (ARC), Shillong, with five teams from Shillong, Guwahati and Jorhat participating in the tournament.

After a league of keenly-contested matches, the top teams of ARC and 58 GTC reached the finals after defeating 41 Sub Area, 51 Sub Area and Station Units team, Shillong.

In the final match today, Assam Regimental Centre defeated 58 Gorkha Training Centre to be crowned the champions of the tournament.

Maj. Gen. M.S. Bedi, medical, 101 Area, distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up.

The Assam Regimental Centre team will now represent 101 Area in the Eastern Command Championship in March.
