Patna, Oct. 2: Engineers from various organisations, under the banner of engineering services co-ordination committee (ESCC), sat on a day-long fast today.
They were demanding implementation of allowances as per the recommendations of the sixth Pay Commission.
Speaking at the occasion, ESCC general secretary Kamlakant Sharma said: “We are observing a day-long fast to press our demands, including revision of allowances and pay-bands for all engineers, as per the recommendations of sixth Pay Commission.”
The co-ordination committee also demanded filling up of vacant posts, through regular appointments with immediate effect.
“The government should stop making appointments on contractual basis,” said Sharma, adding, “The government had assured us in March that a high-level committee will look into our grievances.”
