Imphal, April 27: Amateur Athletic Association veteran demolished Veteran Sports Association Imphal by 2-0 goals in the 12th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament 2010 played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

The Amateur veterans displayed a more aggressive approach, particularly forward M. Bochou Singh, who with his speed and agility gave the Veteran Sports defenders a tough time.

After 22 minutes of play, the Amateur Athletic veterans came up with the first goal as Bochou Singh chipped in a measured shot over keeper Netrajit Singh after anticipating a lofted pass from medio T. Shyam to take the lead in the first half of play. The Veteran Sports players also wasted two chances for lack of understanding between their two forwards in the first half.

In the second half, the Amateur Athletic veterans increased their frequency of attacks against the sloppy show from their opponent and soon consolidated their score with Bochou striking again with a header off a free kick by T. Shyam in the 36th minute for the victory today.

In another match, Football Lovers Association, Manipur had a solitary goal win against Integrated Veteran Football Association. It was an evenly fought encounter, but the Football Lovers prevailed over their opponents with Md Rehman slamming home a grounder in the 17th minute to earn a lead which they held on to till the end. Joy Kabui should have consolidated the score in the injury time of the second half but his shot hit the crosspiece and rebounded.
