Titus paves way to quarters

Imphal, Nov. 19: Titus Golmei’s hurricane hattrick helped Namguilong Youth Club post a fluent 4-1 goal victory against Damdailong Youth Club in a match of the 8th Jadonang Football Tournament played at Thangmeiband Athletic Union ground here today.

Golmei’s Herculean effort saw his team through to the quarter-final today. He came up with his first goal in the 24th minute of play. J. Kamei fetched another goal for Namguilong in the 31st minute to take the first half in their stride.

Excelling on the field, the Namguilong side further strengthened their grip on the match as Golmei came up with his second goal in the 46th minute.

Easing down a bit to strengthen the defence line as they are well ahead with 3-0 lead, the Namguilong team got a surprise shocker as Damdailong Youth Club player Joy Kamei sent a grounder to trim the opponent’s lead in the 61st minute. However, before the Damdailong Youth Club could enjoy the moment, Namguilong Youth Club inflicted further damage as Golmei ruffled the net in the 62nd minute to seal the Damdailong side’s fate.

In another match, Langthabal Chingthak blanked Chingkhulong Youth Development Association by 3-0 goals. Languigai Kamei (12th minute) and Kaphoukhin Palmei (21st and 38th minute) scored the goals for the win.
