Jaipur: The Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) on Tuesday expelled Haryana coach Om Prakash from the ongoing National Volleyball Championship and suspended skipper Amir Singh for two matches for violating the VFI code of conduct.
Elaborating the reason of suspension, the VFI executive vice president N.D. Sharma said, both Om Prakash and Amir were found using abusive language against referee and linesmen after their match against Services.
This was a case of violation of code of conduct and it sends a wrong message. So the disciplinary committee has decided to ban Om Prakash from the championship. Amir has been suspended for two matches, Sharma said.
Om Prakash, who was the coach of the silver medallist Indian team in World Youth Games, said the VFI decision was unfortunate. (PTI)
