Mumbai: In a battle between two former National Football League champions, a confident Mahindra United take on injury-hit East Bengal in an I-League tie at the Cooperage on Sunday.
The Mumbai outfit, finalists in both the Federation and Durand Cup tournaments, appear to have regained some of their lost momentum.
After starting with a draw against local rivals Air India, Mahindra suffered their worst defeat of the League when they lost 1-5 to Goas Churchill Brothers before earning draws against JCT, Viva Kerala and Salgaocar. They have also won 3-0 against Sporting Clube-de-Goa.
Mahindra, like East Bengal, have seven points in their kitty, and are fit and confident, said coach Derick Pereira. The six points gained from their last four games and the return to fitness of star striker Yusif Yakubu have boosted their confidence.
East Bengal have injury worries about key players. Brazilian striker Edmilson Marques and midfielder Alvito DCunha are doubtful starters, according to coach Subrata Bhattacharya. (PTI)
