Diversion of flights
Three flights to Dhaka were diverted to the city early on Tuesday because of bad weather at the destination. A Malaysian Airlines flight carrying 120 passengers that left Calcutta at 5am was diverted to Colombo. A Kuwait Airlines flight with 220 passengers left for Dhaka at 10.12am. Another flight of Biman Bangladesh with 135 on board left at 8.45am.
Two unclaimed bags outside the domestic terminal of the city airport caused a flutter on Tuesday evening, with the bomb disposal squad being called in, only to discover that one bag contained sweets and the other clothes. The incident occurred around 8.05pm.
Some students organised a soiree in the SSKM Hospital compound on Tuesday evening, which upset the nurses and other students. They complained to the hospital authorities over the high-decibel function. An inquiry was ordered.
