SUBJECT: Joint Admission Test to MSc (JAM) 2007 will be held on March 25, 2007 in 34 cities across the country. Admission to two-year MSc programmes at all IITs, three-year MCA and MTech in applied geophysics at IIT Roorkee and MSc PhD dual degree in physics at IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur for the academic session 2007-08 shall be made through the JAM.

ELIGIBILITY: A candidate must satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and eligibility requirements as specified by the admitting institute. Candidates appearing in the final exams of the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply in JAM 2007.

PARTICULARS: Application forms and information brochures can be obtained on payment of Rs 800 for General category male candidates, Rs 700 for General category female candidates and Rs 400 for SC/ST candidates from the designated branches of Canara bank in the country. The application material can also be obtained by post from JAM offices of all IITs by sending a request along with a self-addressed slip and a crossed demand draft for Rs 850 for General Category male, Rs 750 for General category female and Rs 450 for SC/ST candidates drawn in favour of “Chairman, JAM, IIT Guwahati”, which must reach the JAM office of any one of the IITs. SUBJECT: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2007 is to be held on April 8, 2007 at the seven IITs in Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee, IT-BHU, Varanasi and Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.

ELIGIBILITY: A candidate can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. Candidates who have passed Plus Two or equivalent qualifying exam in 2006 or will be appearing in 2007, and secured at least 60 per cent [55 per cent for SC/ST and persons with disability (PD)] marks in the aggregate in their respective board exams are eligible. If any board awards only letter-grades, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the board specifying equivalent percentage marks. Candidates who have accepted admission by payment of full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi, and ISM, Dhanbad through JEE, will not be permitted to appear in JEE 2007. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 1, 1982, are eligible for the exam. However, in case of SC/ST and PD candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by five years.
