Doctor Zhivago

(MusicWorld, Rs 299) In the uncertain climes of the Russian revolution begins the torrid love affair of doctor-poet Zhivago. Director David Lean builds up an epic romance through flashbacks and adoring close-ups, with Omar Sharif and Julie Christie in the lead. This screen adaptation of the Boris Pasternak novel was nominated for 10 Oscars. It won five.

Tamasha: Present perfect

(Seagull Arts and Media Resource Centre, 2 pm-7.30 pm) The photo exhibition by Sandesh Bhandare explores tamasha, a major folk art form of rural India. Bhandare’s probing lens captures some images of this performing art which was once a popular source of entertainment for the Mughal and Peshwa armies.
