New Delhi, April 10 (PTI): The CBSE’s all-India premedical examination, scheduled for tomorrow, was cancelled tonight following a leak of the question papers. Two MBBS students were arrested.
CBSE chairman Ashok Ganguly said the examination has been cancelled and new dates will be announced tomorrow.
The leak is the latest in a series of similar incidents. Late last year, question papers of the common admission test conducted by the Indian institutes of management were leaked. More recently, a lecturer was arrested in connection with the leak of the financial accounting and auditing papers for final year BCom students in Mumbai.
Late tonight, the Delhi police crime branch raided a building in the Ashok Nagar area of east Delhi after a tip-off. Rakesh Verma and Vikas Verma, MBBS students of Nagpur, were caught while they were allegedly selling the question papers, deputy commissioner of police Dependra Pathak said.
The two are being interrogated about their associates, if any, and the police are trying to ascertain from where they obtained the papers, the official added.
At least 13 students who were to appear for tomorrow’s test and were present on the spot to buy the question papers, were detained. The police said the accused were selling the papers for Rs 4-6 lakh to each examinee. It is suspected that some students tipped off the police, who sent decoy customers.
More than 2.5 lakh students were to take the test at over 400 centres in 31 cities.
