London, Dec. 1 (PTI): British Airways today resumed flights to Pakistan, following their suspension in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorists strikes on the US in 2001.
British Airways will operate flights from London to Islamabad thrice a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and return flights will leave Islamabad on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays — Pakistan’s official news agency APP reported.
The news agency said that “a lot of political and diplomatic endeavours” were needed to convince British Airways to resume its flights to Pakistan.
“We are delighted that we are now able to resume our flights to Islamabad. As the only European carrier operating flights to the northern region of the country, we provide an important link between Europe and Pakistan,” said British Airways director Dale Moss.
British Airways said it was satisfied with the security arrangements at Islamabad airport.
