Mumbai, Nov. 18: Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists are building up communal tension in Wai town in Panchgani over the past two days, actress Shabana Azmi has complained, says our correspondent.
There have been incidents of violence in Wai, about 270 km from Mumbai, over cow slaughter. The situation is tense. About 12 to 13 persons have been arrested.
Muslims reportedly have been under attack from the VHP and Bajrang Dal activists. They fears that the attacks will be stepped up tonight. Members of a Mumbai-based organisation, Muslims for Secular Democracy, met deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal. The delegation, led by Shabana, said the activists attacked two mosques, vehicles, shops and homes of Muslims at a time when they were praying.
