Aussies arrive today

The Australian team will arrive in the city from Bangalore on Friday morning for Tuesday’s tri-series final at the Eden Gardens. The world champions are expected to practise from Saturday morning, as per information available with the CAB.

Baboor not to participate

All top players, barring Chetan Baboor, are expected to take part in the Servo national ranking table tennis championships (East Zone) at SAI from November 19 to 23.

The tournament, organised by Centre for Excellence, TTFI, will have six events — men’s and women’s singles, junior boys and girls singles and sub-junior boys and girls singles. The fixtures will be drawn on Monday.

The meet will carry a total prize money of Rs 1.4 lakh, the men’s and women’s winners earning Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively.

NFL from

Nov. 27

The National Football League will kick off in the city on November 27.

The fixtures, yet to be drawn, are expected to be announced after the organising committee’s meeting in the city on November 19.

8 teams in fray

Eight office sport club teams — State Bank of India, Metro Railway, AG Bengal, Allahabad Bank, State Transport, WBSEB, IT and FCI — will take part in the Paritosh Memorial Challenge trophy meet at Dhakuria from November 20 to 30.

BHA transfers

Seven players — Bijnath Kujur, Anil Rajak, Shabbir Anwar, Mobashar Hossain, Priyotosh Dey, Dharamvir Bharti and Punit Oraon — switched allegiance to BNR in the inter-club hockey transfers on Thursday. Wari and Student AC gained three players each.


TABLE TENNIS: State & inter-district meet at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra from 2 pm.

GOLF: All India Police meet at Tollygunge Club: Final day’s tee-off at 7.30 am followed by prize distribution at 1 pm.
