Calcutta: Ever-Ready came from behind to surprise Mohun Bagan 2-1 in the All Airlines Gold Cup final in Haldia on Wednesday.
According to information received here, holders Mohun Bagan took the lead inside the second minute when Manitombi Singh took advantage of a deflected ball off Ever_ready defender Wajed Ali inside the box.
Parity was restored in the 12th minute when Gray’s attempted shot was handled by Harpreet Singh. The Liberian converted the resultant spot-kick.
Then, second minutes after the break, a quickly-taken Jayanta Sen throw-in found Gray on a vantage position near the box and the latter’s curling shot caught Bagan goalie Prasanta Dora on the wrong foot.
Gray was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match, while teammate Earnest Jeremiah was given the Man-of-the-Tournament award. Mohun Bagan had to be content with the fair play award.
