Till November 28 at Idiyas Gallery, 15 Dover Road; 10.30 am - 7.30 pm: lluminations — an exhibition of paintings and sculptures featuring the works of Suhas Roy, Prokash Karmakar, Ramananda Bandopadhyay, Bratin Khan, Atanu Bhattacharya, Swapan Das, Jaspal and Utpal Dasgupta and many others. Till October 30 at Chitrakoot Art Gallery; 3 pm - 8 pm: An exhibition of nude studies of models at Academy Grand Chaumier (1938 -1939) and other sketches by Chintamoni Kar.

October 18 at Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Shivananda Hall; 5 pm: Dhyanesh Narayan Chakrabarti will speak in Bengali on Mahabharoter Shantiparba. At 6.15 pm: R.K. DasGupta will speak in English on History of Bengali Thought - 800 AD to 2000 AD. October 18 at Ramakrishna Vedanta Math; 7 pm: Swami Paramatmananda will speak on Juge Juge Jander Aagomon. October 19 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar; 11 am: Professor P. Lal reads of Duryodhana’s winning over Salya and Krishna agreeing to become Arjuna’s non-fighting charioteer, in the 200th weekly session of his complete English transcreation of Vyasa’s Mahabharata.


October 18 & 19 at Sree Thyagaraja Hall, P-530, Raja Basanta Roy Road; 6 pm: Rasika Ranjan Sabha grand musical recitals. The Line-up: (Today): Sugandha Kalamegam (vocal) with V.V. Srinivasa Rao (violin) and Thanjavur R. Kumar (mridangam); (Tomorrow): Seetha Narayanan (vocal) with V. V. Srinivasa Rao (violin) and Thanjavur R. Kumar (mridangam). October 19 at Sarat Sadan; 5 pm: Instrumental rendition of Hindi, Bengali and western tunes played by eminent musicians of SOS arranged by Saroj Barua. Also, mime show by Anjan Dev and mimicry by Anup.


October 19 at Paschim Banga Bangla Akademi; 5.30 pm: The West Bengal Dance Group Federation hosts a seminar on Nritya Parikalpana-O-Anusangik — Sekaal O Ekaaler Pariprekshite. Speakers include: P. Govindan Kutty, Shambhu Bhattacharya, Dr Manjulika Roychowdhury, Gopal Chatterjee, Arati Mazumdar, Polly Guha, Alokananda Roy, Mamatashankar, Sruti Bandyopadhyay, Poushali Mukhopadhyay and Asimbandhu Bhattacharya.


October 18 at Swabhumi; 6.30 pm: Kathak Nritya Sandhya features a dance workshop-cum-Kathak recital by Rani Karnaa and her disciples. October 19 at Birla Academy; 6 pm: To mark the release of a book by Late Dipali Dutta Roy, Jharna Dutta Roy presents an evening of Tagore songs by Amiyangshu Mukhopadhyay and Kishalaya. Also, an Odissi dance recital by Enakshi Das.


Till October 26 at The Birla Academy of Art & Culture; 2 pm - 8 pm: Crafts Bazar organised by the Crafts Council of West Bengal. Also, master craftsmen and weavers from different parts of the country give demonstrations on weaving, natural dyeing, block printing, hand embroidery, muslin weaving etc. Till October 20 at Diagold Jewels Pvt.
