New Delhi: Madhuri Saxena and Neelam J. Singh won two silver medals for India on the second day of the 15th Asian Athletic Championships in Manila on Sunday.
According to information received here, high-jumper Bobby Aloysius and heptathletes Soma Biswas and G.G. Promila disappointed. Madhuri won the 1500m silver clocking four minutes, 17.87 seconds. Neelam, who won the Asian Games discus gold in Busan last year, managed a best of 58.64m. The other Indian in fray Harbans Kaur finished fourth.
The quartet of Sanjay Ghosh, Anil Kumar, Piyush Kumar and Amit Saha won the 4x100m relay bronze at 39.93 seconds. Japan took the gold and China the silver.
Asian Games silver medallist Bobby finished fourth with a best effort of 1.80m. In heptathlon, Promila finished fifth with 5500 points, while Soma came a disappointing seventh with just 5136 points.
