Ross recce during Irani
Fleming is being helped in his preparations

New Delhi: Ahead of the upcoming tour of India, New Zealand’s stand-in coach Ashley Ross will be flying in to Chennai with video analyst Zach Hitchcock to observe the Indian players in action during the Irani Cup match.

The September 18-22 match between Ranji champions Mumbai and Rest of India will feature frontline India players including captain Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid and gives Ross the chance to “confirm the strategies to be employed in the series”.

Stephen Fleming’s New Zealanders are in an eight-day camp in Brisbane in preparation for the tour and will return home for three days before flying out to India on September 21.

Ross told a website that the side had prepared well for the tour, including a four-day camp in Christchurch in alien conditions.

Meanwhile, Mumbai captain Sachin Tendulkar said on Monday that he expected a “tough battle” against Rest of India in, adds a report from Chennai.
