Chennai, Sept. 13 (PTI): Uttam Singh Mundy emerged champion after a second play-off in the Hindu Open golf tournament on Saturday. The Calcutta pro was tied with C. Muniyappa at six-under 282 at the end of the fourth round, but edged out his rival in the play-off.
Mundy, whose five-under was the best score of the day, bagged the first prize of Rs 1,13,400. The Bangalore-based Muniyappa got Rs 78,400. A stroke behind the leaders was Vijay Kumar who finished with a five-under 283, though he had an even-par final round.
Amritinder Singh of Chandigarh was also in good touch and played a four-under 68. He had a hole-in-one on the par-three fourth (147 yards) and was placed sixth at 287.
L. Selvadurai won the amateurís title with a tally of 302.
