Chennai: Maharashtra’s Kaikhusru Irani set a meet record on his way to his third gold medal, in the 25m event for junior men, in the 13th G.V. Mavlankar shooting championship which concluded on Tuesday.
Irani (282) eclipsed the old mark of 274 set by Inder Singh of Punjab in 2000. He had pocketed two gold medals on Monday.
Bhupendra Singh Rai (277) also came up with an impressive show to claim the silver. Farooq Ali equalled the mark with a tally of 274 for the bronze.
In the junior men services category, gold and silver medallists Vijay Kumar (Army) and Tarsem Singh (Army) erased the old mark of L. P. Singh (276).
Kumar and Singh totalled 285 and 281 respectively. Navy’s K.K.S. Thounaojam took the bronze with 274. (PTI)
