Calcutta, Sept. 2: Top Hindustan Lever Ltd officials called on the chief minister today to resolve the crises that led to a lock-out in its factory at Garden Reach on March 22.
After his meeting with HLL vice-chairman M.K. Sharma and director (human resource and corporate affairs) Gurdeep Singh, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said: “I think the problem will be solved.”
The HLL brass also met labour minister Mohammad Amin. Writers’ Buildings sources said the labour secretary is likely to call the management and unions to arrive at a solution in a day or two. The company did not comment on today’s meeting.
HLL’s factory in the port area has been a hotbed of labour unrest since the company stopped production of Surf and Wheel detergents a few years ago.
