Air-India profit at Rs 134 cr

Mumbai, Aug. 16: Air-India has registered a higher profit of Rs 133.85 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2003, after taking into account the deferred tax benefit, as compared with Rs 15.44 crore profit in the previous fiscal. The airline has earned a total revenue of Rs 5,668 crore during the period under review as against Rs 5,017 crore the previous year.

Forex reserves

Mumbai, Aug. 16: After a fall last week, India’s foreign exchange reserves have recorded a rise again and are nearing the $ 85 billion mark. The country’s foreign exchange reserves grew by $ 297 billion at $ 84,997 million during the week ended August 8. The reserves do not include India's reserve tranche position with the International Monetary Fund.

Bajaj Auto

New Delhi, Aug. 16: Bajaj Auto marketing chief R. L. Ravichandran, the brain behind the transformation of the company to become the second-biggest motorcycle maker, has put in his papers to take up an assignment abroad. “I have resigned to take up an assignment abroad. The decision was purely out of compulsion for higher learning,” he said.
