Calcutta: Team India captain Sourav Ganguly, who is leaving for Australia on Tuesday, will only be visiting Melbourne.
“A full-fledged recce trip was talked about by the Board. However, this visit is for a commercial shoot (Sahara),” Sourav clarified on Sunday.
Speaking to The Telegraph, he added: “Of course, as I will be in Melbourne, I will get an update on the MCG… It’s to be seen, though, when the full-fledged recce trip (ahead of the tour of Australia beginning end November) comes about.”
Besides the tour-opener against Victoria, Team India will be in Melbourne for the third Test as also the tri-series opener (versus Australia). Incidentally, the first tri-series final is also slated to be hosted by the MCG.
Sourav is expected to be back on August 10, before the pre-season (conditioning) camp gets underway in Bangalore.
