Calcutta, Aug. 2: The onset of the monsoon is driving the city’s football folks crazy, but cricket has found an escape route — courtesy the corporate indoor tournament to be held in Space Circle from Sunday to August 23.
The second edition of the meet, co-sponsored by The Telegraph, has attracted 36 teams. After the first round matches with 18 pairs, the competition will be divided into three segments — Main Plate, Losers’ Plate and Bowl.
All matches at the Space Circle complex indoor hall will be eight overs-per-side affairs and every team will have eight players. Every player from the fielding side will have to bowl an over each. For the team batting, four pairs will face two overs apiece.
Two runs will be awarded for no balls and wides, but there is no lbw. Pepsi and Seagram are the other co-sponsors.
