For the past four to five years, Mohammad Khalid would drug his victims and deprive them of all their valuables, till his arrest on Sunday at Dhankheti, in the Garden Reach police station area.
Khalid, 40, along with three accomplices, hired a taxi on July 10 at Basirhat and stopped at the Airport Ashok. After finishing their meal, the four men offered taxi driver Mohammad Yasin some tea. Yasin claims to have lost consciousness. When he came around, he found himself lying in a field in Garden Reach. He had lost his day's income and the taxi.
Based on Yasin’s description, the four men were traced to Khalid’s residence at Dhankheti. Khalid, from Punjab, was involved in a number of robberies on trains, police said.
