New Delhi, July 25: Petroleum minister Ram Naik has set October 31 as the deadline for national oil companies to commission the remaining petrol pumps and LPG outlets that have been allotted to the kin of the Kargil martyrs.
Addressing newspersons on the eve of the fourth anniversary of the Kargil victory, the minister said that as many as 312 petrol pumps and LPG agencies had already been made operational for the families of the Kargil war heroes. While 197 of these are petrol filling stations, 115 are LPG outlets.
He said the oil companies were at various stages of commissioning another 46 petrol pumps and 13 LPG distributorships.
Search for suitable sites were under way in the case of another 21 retail outlets. He exhorted the state governments to rise to the occasion so that these outlets could be commissioned by October-end.
