Mumbai, July 12: Rallis India Ltd, the agro-chemicals company within the Tata group, has got V.S. Sohoni as the new managing director. The MD’s post fell vacant following the resignation of Rajeev Dubey due to personal reasons.
Sohoni, a non-executive director of the company, was previously the managing director of Pharmacia India Pvt Ltd.
He was also the managing director of Hindustan Ciba Geigy and vice-president of Sandoz’s crop protection division.
Though Dubey’s resignation came as a surprise to many, Rallis officials maintained that he has resigned because of “personal reasons”.
However, sources say the resignation was prompted by “unbridgeable differences” between Rallis chairman R. Gopalakrishnan and Dubey.
Sohoni, will take charge on August 11 while Dubey’s resignation takes effect on Monday.
Until Sohoni takes charge, the management team will report to Gopalakrishnan.
