A thought for tomorrow

Population explosion is a matter of grave global concern. In fact, in the third world countries it is the most severe problem of all. Today, on World Population Day, to ascertain Generation Today’s feelings about this acute problem, Studio Print-Art-Prayasam in association with Oxford University Press, Tata Steel and Charnock City, has organised an innovative and thematic role-play session. This year’s theme: Kolkata 2053. Eleven thematic role-plays, centring around the theme Rights of the Child — its violation due to over-population. Participants would portray either the problems faced due to over-population or come up with practical solutions. The participants include students of Hatiara High Madrasa, Akra High Madrasa, Akra Girls’ High Madrasa, Haji Mhd. Mohisin Girls’ Madrasa, Danga High Madrasa, Khalarpur High Madrasa, Our lady Queen of the Missions, BD School, Salt lake, Sarada Prasad Institution and Patipukur Girls’ High School. Also, a dance-skit focussing on a deadly vice, endless cravings and desires titled Sonar Horin Chai, will be performed by members of Ahlladi, the cultural wing of Prayasam. Following this programme, participant schools will be encouraged to conduct year-long workshops to develop further the skits/ role-plays on the importance of child rights so that these can be used as awareness building tools for other children.
