Chennai, June 21 (PTI): Holders Manipur and former champions Bengal start favourites against Bihar and Kerala, respectively, in the semi-finals of the 11th national women’s football championship to be played Sunday.
Manipur are here without their top players — 11 from the state did national duty at the AFC women’s championship in Thailand — but have still managed comfortable wins against Karnataka and Punjab in their quarter final league matches.
Bengal have also put up a good show, scoring nine goals in two matches.
They look a well-knit side but can’t afford to relax against Kerala, who have improved with every outing.
In the last ten years, Manipur have won the title eight times with Bengal emerging best on two occasions.
