Bangkok: Olympic bronze medallist Susanthika Jayasinghe has overcome fitness concerns and is expected to win the 100m at the Asian Grand Prix in Thailand and make it three golds from three starts in the series.
The Sri Lankan won the sprint at the series opener in Hyderabad last Wednesday and then again in Colombo on Sunday.The Bangkok meet will be staged on Thursday, before the series concludes in Manila on Monday.
Busan Asian Games gold medallist Saraswati Saha will miss the final round of Asian GP in Manila on Monday, because of injury, adds a Staff Reporter in Calcutta.
“Saraswati is yet to recover fully from a hamstring strain she had developed during the Asian Games (in September). Besides, she has also had a back sprain. Though she is undergoing treatment as well as light training at the national camp (in Patiala), she’s most likely to be out at least for a month,” her coach, Sunirmal Ghosh, said on Wednesday.
