Calcutta, May 26: Eastern Railway will refund a part of the fare to passengers who were unable to board the New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express from Howrah yesterday as the train left much earlier than the time printed on their tickets.
Admitting lapses on the part of Eastern Railway over the wrong departure time and train number printed on some tickets, officials said on Monday that passengers who had to be accommodated in a special train would be refunded the extra amount they paid for the Rajdhani ticket.
“The difference between the fares of Rajdhani Express and the special train will be reimbursed,” a spokesman of Eastern Railway said.
Several passengers missed the Rajdhani Express as the train left at 1.35 pm. In their tickets, the boarding time was printed as 5 pm. The train number was also printed erroneously as 2301 Up.
According to Eastern Railway officials, the Rajdhani Express via Patna previously used to run every Wednesday and Sunday, departing from Howrah station at 1.35 pm.
Eastern Railway also announced that 2305 Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, now operating once a week, would run only on Sundays. The Delhi-bound train will leave Howrah at 1.35 pm and the 2306 down Rajdhani will leave New Delhi for Howrah at 5 pm on Fridays. The Rajdhani Express via Gaya would run five days a week, leaving Howrah at 5 pm.
