Amway lines up more

Calcutta, May 24: Amway India will launch a range of products, mainly in the nutrition and cosmetics category, to drive sales in the next fiscal (August 2003 to September 2004). The direct selling company had registered a sales turnover of Rs 626 crore in 2001-02, but expects figures to rise only marginally for the year ending September 2003.

Speaking at the launch of Nutrilite Iron-Folic dietary supplement, William S. Pinckney, managing director and CEO of Amway India, said: “The launches are aimed are triggering a growth for the next fiscal. We are also looking for additional manufacturing support as we bring in new brands. There are plans to introduce 10 to 12 new products within the next one year.”

Amway has already invested Rs 151 crore in India and has a distributor base of 3,50,000 people spread over 400 locations. The company has 37 products in its portfolio in four categories — nutrition and wellness, personal care, home care and cosmetics. Almost 85 per cent of the products are manufactured indigenously through five third-party contract manufacturers.
