Islamabad, April 25 (Reuters): Thirteen people died when a Pakistan army helicopter crashed in the country’s northern mountains, the military said today. The M-17 helicopter of Pakistan army aviation crashesd last night near Astore district in northern Pakistan.
,” the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate said in a statement.
”Thirteen passengers on board embraced Shahadat (martyrdom),” the statement said.“An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
Astore lies some 260 km (160 miles) northeast of the capital Islamabad, in the heart of the Karakoram mountain range.
In February, the commander of Pakistan's air force Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, his wife and 15 other people were killed when their Fokker F-27 turboprop crashed near the northwestern town of Kohat.
