Calcutta, March 29: Seven boys from Bengal are among the 20 chosen Saturday for the new batch of the East Zone Academy. Dilip Vengsarkar, chief of BCCI’s talent research development wing, was present at the meeting along with zonal representatives.

Shib Sagar Singh’s unbeaten 103 (13x4, 2x6) and Dibyendu Chatterjee’s 92 helped Bengal take a 253-run lead in their zonal under-25 match against Assam at Eden Gardens Saturday. After the hosts declared their first innings closed at 388 for six, Assam were nine without loss the second time around at stumps on Day 2.
