New Delhi: Winning his third bout in a row Mohammad Ali Qamar romped into the semi-finals of the 49th menís senior national boxing championship on Friday.
Taking advantage of his international experience, Qamar who plays for Railways in domestic competitions scored on points against Girish Pawar of Maharashtra in the second bout of the lightfly weight category.
A confident Qamar employed fast punches in the fourth round to be declared 25-7 winner.
Another impressive bout of the day was between Akhil Kumar from RSPB and Sundy Raju from Andhra Pradesh, which the former won by a 27-13 margin to book a semi-final berth in the flyweight category.
In the bantam weight category, Dharambeer Singh played a nice strategy of ringcraft to defeat Haryana boxer Vijender Singh 19-13 to move into semis.
