Chelsea bags job in New York

New York, March 9 (AFP): Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton has landed a lucrative New York consultancy job, Newsweek magazine has reported.

According to the magazine’s website, Chelsea recently rejected a $100,000 a year offer from the top consulting firm McKinsey and company in London, but said yes to an offer from the company’s New York office Friday.

McKinsey has confirmed her acceptance, Newsweek reported yesterday.

The consulting firm would not comment on Chelsea’s salary, but a former recruiter for the firm told the magazine that most new associates earn between $115,000 and $120,000 per year, and usually net a signing bonus of an additional $10,000.

Competition for the consulting posts is fierce, with applicants typically in the top 1 per cent of their standardised test scores and at the very top of their university classes, Newsweek wrote. As one of 5,000 McKinsey consultants world-wide, Chelsea can look forward to long hours and frequent travel.

Her acceptance of the job means the entire Clinton clan will now be reunited in New York.
