New Delhi, March 7: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has hurriedly convened a meeting of state Congress chiefs in the capital on Sunday.
The weekend meeting will deliberate in detail on the agenda for the national-level bloc Congress committee presidents’ convention, scheduled to be held here on March 28 and 29. According to AICC sources, the party leadership has identified some important issues around which will revolve its campaigns for the next round of Assembly elections and the parliamentary elections that follow.
The sources said at least four resolutions for adoption at the bloc Congress committee convention will be discussed by state party presidents on Sunday.
The party has decided to give pre-eminence to the agricultural sector. A resolution in this regard is being drafted by former Union agriculture minister Balram Jakhar, who also heads the AICC’s farmers’ cell.
The Congress president is also expected to give a clear picture of the party’s campaign strategy for the big battles at a national rally in Delhi on March 30.
