Calcutta, Feb. 25: The West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation today took possession of the sheds of 11 units in Behala Industrial Estate as they were “non-functional’’ for a long time.
These sheds would be allotted to small-scale entrepreneurs who had sought space for new ventures, a senior official of the corporation said.
Plot-owners led by the Behala Industrial Estate Entrepreneurs’ Association tried to resist the eviction and sealing of their units. A large contingent of police and Rapid Action Force personnel foiled their bid.
The budget session of the Assembly will begin on March 5 with Governor Viren J. Shah’s inaugural speech. Finance minister Asim Dasgupta will place the budget for 2003-’04 on March 20.
The vote of accounts will be placed on March 28.
