Calcutta, Feb. 3: Trinamul Congress MP Ananda Mohan Biswas died today following a heart attack at Howrah station. He was 64 and is survived by wife and a son.
Biswas suffered the attack on his way home from Delhi with his family by Rajdhani Express. Trinamul MLAs Saugata Roy and Sonali Guha rushed to the station on receiving the news of his illness. Biswas was taken to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, where he died.
Trinamul chief Mamata Banerjee went to the hospital to pay her last respects and described the death as a “great loss”.
Biswas was the chairman of Trinamul Congress’ Scheduled Caste cell and won an Assembly election for the first time from Hanskhali in Nadia in 1971, as a Congress candidate.
