January 23 at Nazrul Mancha, Rabindra Sarovar; 8 pm: The 51 st annual session of Dover Lane Music Conference features today: Santanu Bandopadhya (vocal) with Sujit Saha (tabla) & Subhrakanti Chatterji (harmonium); Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Alam Khan (sarod) with Swapan Chowdhury (tabla); Rashid Khan (vocal) with Tanmoy Bose (tabla), Jyoti Goho (harmonium) & Ramesh Mishra (sarengi); Subhendra Rao and Saskia Rao-De Haash (sitar and cello) with Subhen Chatterji (tabla); Subha Mudgal (vocal) with Anees Pradhan (tabla) and P. January 26 at Vivekananda Hall, the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture; 6 pm: The Ramakrishna Institute of Culture in association with Jalsaghar Foundation will felicitate Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Calcutta Mayor Subrata Mukherjee will be the guest-in-chief, Ustad Vilayat Khan will be the guest of honour and Swami Prabhananda, secretary of the institute will preside. This will be followed by a vocal recital by Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar. He will be accompanied by Pandit Suresh Talwalkar on tabla and Dr Arvind Thatte on harmonium.


January 23 at Netaji Bhavan, 38/2 Lala Lajpat Rai (Elgin) Road; 10.30 am: On the occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 106th birth anniversay, the Netaji Birthday Issue of The Oracle will be released. Also, special Netaji birthday concert by Bhoomi. January 24 at Sri Sarada Math, Dakshineswar: The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda will be celebrated with special puja, Holma, Chandi Paath and Vedic chanting. (at 2.30 pm): A ladies’ meet will be held, to be presided by Pravrajika Amalaprana. Dr Chinmoyee Nandi, Pravrajika Chidbhavaprana and Pravrajika Nirvedaprana will speak on the life and teachings of Swamiji. (at 5.30 pm): Aratrika and bhajans.


January 23 at Abhedananda Memorial Hall, Ramakrishna Vedanta Math; 7 pm: Swami Samshuddhanandaji will speak on Valmiki Ramayana.
