January 16 at Oxford Bookstore; 6.30 pm: Oxford University Press and Oxford Bookstore jointly launch The Oxford India Companion to Sociology and Social Anthropology, edited by Veena Das. The occasion will be graced by celebrated author Mahasweta Devi, Partha Chatterjee, professor of anthropology, Columbia University and Surrendra Munshi, professor of sociology, IIM, Calcutta.

January 16 at Rabindra Sadan; 6.30 pm: Academy Theatre presents Manchageeti Chitrageeti — Shatabdir Anusriti (Theatre song and film song in the reflection of a century). Participants include: V. Balsara, Riddhi Chattopadhyay, Koushik Sen and Devajit Bandyopadhyay. January 18 at Kala Mandir; 9 pm: Sabrang Music Trust hosts a night-long classical music session, Sabrang Sangeet Sammelan, Bade Ghulam Ali Centenary Session.
