Bangalore: Powered by opener Connor Williams’ 122 and Ramesh Powar’s five for 53, West Zone beat South Zone by 29 runs in a Deodhar Trophy tie on Sunday.
Put in, West Zone made 295 for six and bundled out South for 266, to bag four points. West suffered an early shock, losing Robin Morris with the score on 35.
Williams was joined by Vinayak Mane and they produced a 136-run partnership. His 112 off 114 balls included 13 boundaries while Mane made 61 off 71 balls.
Hemang Badani provided the break when he trapped Mane leg-before, with West having reached 171 off 30.5 overs. South, who defeated Central Zone in their opener, began with openers A.T. Rayadu and Ronald Barrington coming up with a 126-run partnership.
With the dismissals of Rayudu, who hit 73 off 64 balls and Barrington, their fate was sealed.
