Hyderabad, Dec. 21 (PTI): Bengal won all three golds in table tennis at the 32nd National Games here on Saturday.
In the menís singles final, Bengalís Sourav Chakraborty beat Soumyadeeep Roy of Rajasthan 11-3, 12-10, 10-12, 11-13, 11-13, 12-10, 12-10. Tamil Naduís S. Raman and Sharath Kamal got the bronze.
Mouma Das won the womenís singles, beating Poulami Ghatak 11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 11-9. Tamil Naduís T. Pradeepa and Anindita Chakraborty of Bengal got the bronze.
Mouma Das and Saurav Chakraborty bagged the mixed doubles gold, while Shibaji Dutta and Anindita Chakraborty won the silver. Tamil Naduís T. Pradeepa and Sharath Kamal and Bengalís Ranabir Das and Poulami Ghatak took the bronze.
Twin loss in soccer
Bengalís menís and womenís soccer teams lost in the finals. While the women went down 0-1 to holders Manipur, the men were done in 1-2 by Punjab.
Manipur shot into the lead in the 10th minute from a direct free kick awarded by referee Bentala D. Coth of Kerala after an infringement by Bengalís Rehana Khatun.
Bengal men took the lead through Mohammed Rahim Nabi in the 71st minute before Saranjit Singh equalised in the 77th. In extra time, Punjabís Gurvinder capitalised on an error by Bengal custodian Prasanta Dora.
Bengal women clinched the kabaddi gold, beating Andhra Pradesh 26-21.
