Holiday in Bengal camp for NFL matches
There will be a temporary hiatus in Bengal probables’ practice for the National Games football for about ten days. Coach Mohammed Habeeb supervised the players’ two-day workout at Mohammedan Sporting ground Wednesday and Thursday and decided not to continue it for the time being.
The move has been taken in view of the upcoming National Football League. The city leg kicks off Sunday with the match between East Bengal and Tollygunge Agragami. Tollygunge, who provide a large bunch of players to Bengal camp, will then take on Mahindra United on November 21.
Habeeb is likely to resume training on November 24. The National Games starts in Hyderabad on December 13.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt the NFL match between Mohun Bagan and JCT might just be held in Barasat.
Meanwhile, Bengal’s under-16 and under-19 squads’ practice kicks off at SAI Eastern Centre Wednesday.
Hattrick by Somnath
In the Hooghly district leg, Somnath Das scored four goals, including a hattrick, as Barbati High School thrashed St. Jones’ HS 5-0 in the quarter finals. In another match, Chapdani Nibaran Chandra Mukherjee HS also walloped SP Som Training Academy by similar margin.
In the Howrah district leg, Gangadhar Vidyamandir edged past Bainan Baman Das HS 4-3 in tie-breaker to reach the semi-finals.
First round: Jadavpur 2 Ranchi 0. Second round: Behrampur 2 APS Rewa 1; Binobha Bhave 3 Manipur 0; Guru Ghasidas 5 Tripura 3 (tie-breaker).
