Milan: Holders Parma were among five top flight Italian clubs knocked out of the Italian Cup by Serie B sides on Wednesday. Parma beat Vicenza 2-1, but that was not enough to avoid a 2-3 aggregate defeat after they had lost the first leg 2-0 in Vicenza.
A 1-1 draw at Serie A club Atalanta was enough to give Sampdoria a 2-1 overall win while Ancona enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Brescia to take their place in the last sixteen with a 4-2 aggregate win. Triestina go through after they followed up a 1-0 first-leg home win over Serie A side Como with a 2-0 victory, while Udinese crashed out 4-2 on aggregate to Bari despite a 1-0 victory in Wednesday’s second-leg.
