Calcutta, Oct. 22: Three meals a day in the state’s teaching hospitals — now served free — will cost the patients Rs 28 from November 1.
Only patients with below-poverty-line cards will not have to pay for their meals, health department sources said today.
The patients in the eight teaching hospitals, including five in the city, will be provided cooked food from outside. Dieticians at the hospitals will certify if the food is palatable, fresh and nutritious.
The caterers will have to produce specimen of the cooked food to the hospital superintendents before serving them.
